3D Compromise

Conceptual Background

This piece engages with paradoxical ideal of the Klein Bottle, a non-orientable surface realized in a four-dimensional space. This sculpture is three-dimensional ghost, flawed as an attempt to force that ideal into our physical space.

The sculpture embraces this flaw as a central tenet. The orderly cylindrical base represents the initial condition. The sinuous intrusion, where the form punches through itself is the material resistance, the inevitable breakdown caused by dimensional constraint. The act of wiring the rupture into the cylinder is the rejoining; it does not hide the flaw but creates a new, complex whole.

This work becomes a proposition; life is not about achieving perfection, rather it is defined by the integration of discrete fractures into a cohesive whole.
